I would personally recommend not thinking about this too much, the moral side of some of the stuff in the TG genre is very dubious. Anecdotally, there are several cases of sexual preferences changing after HRT but I don't think this has ever been studied in depth. Now, what I have just said, is also very controversial. I myself tried going on hormones for a few months - I stopped because I realized having children someday was important to me but the temporary HRT did cause a shift in my sexual preferences and since then I have developed a minor attraction to men. That said, being transgender is a very complex topic. He suffered his whole life with this confusion and eventually committed suicide. He was given hormones and raised as a girl but he always thought that there was something very wrong with him. The parents were concerned about their son's future happiness and consulted with doctors about a gender transition. The tl dr version is that a baby boy had developed an infection in his penis which the doctors thought required circumcision but the procedure did not go as planned and his penis was burned off.
